unexpected changes can take you by surprise.
Last year I made the decision to serve a mission. I started studying like crazy and learning more about the church, figuring out dates and making appointments to finish my mission papers.
But our Lovely Lord decided something different.
I'm not going to be serving a mission. yet.
A lot of prayer went in to the decision. A lot of "whys" and " are you sure"
But I know this is the right choice for me.
I don't think I'm quite ready to serve a mission. I have decided to go back to school and get my career started. 18 months is a long time, and in those 18 months I would be serving our Lord 24/7 but why cant I do that here while working on my career?
oh wait! I can! and I will! The gospel is an amazing thing and you don't need to be labeled as a missionary to do your Lords work. I realized that a mission can and will happen. whether its this year, next year, or even when I'm married and I go with my husband. either way I'm ecstatic. I know while I'm working on my career I can also work in serving our lord as well. We have to remember every member a missionary.
Every member is a missionary. We have the responsibility of bringing
somebody: a mother, a father, a neighbor, a fellow worker, an associate,
somebody in touch with the messengers of the gospel. If every member will carry
that responsibility and if the arrangement to have that mother or that father or
somebody meet the authorized representatives of the Church, no power on earth
can stop this church from growing. And personal contact is what will influence
those investigators. That personal contact, the nature of it, its effect depends
upon you. And that’s one thing that I wish to emphasize. There’s one
responsibility which no man can evade, that’s the responsibility of personal
influence. … It’s what you are, not what you pretend to be that will bring
people to investigate.
Every member of the Church should be a missionary. we're not
authorized to go from house to house, but we are authorized, by virtue of our
membership, to set a proper example as a good neighbor. Neighbors are watching
us. Neighbors are watching your children. You are a light, and it is our duty not
to have that light hidden under a bushel, but it should be set up on a hill that
all men may be guided thereby.
I am Convinced that missionary work is not east because salvation is not a cheap experience. Salvation never was easy. We are the Church of Jesus Christ, this is the truth. and He is our Great Eternal Father. How could we believe it would be easy for us when it was never easy for Him?
Use what you know for good. Share the gospel whenever you can. Share the teachings of our Heavenly Father to bring people closer to Him. Talk to the less actives in your ward. invite them to come back to church. Its hard to come out of you comfort zone, but if its to help others come unto our Lord, it shouldn't really matter now should it? Think about the stories of or savior and how everyday He would help others He just met, and help them find truth.
He wasn't selfish. He was constantly reaching out. He was always inviting and focusing on others. No one can name a time where he focused on himself and his own pains or issues. when reading the story of the atonement and how He went through such agony and absolute pain and horror I wonder how, as He was hanging from the cross, He was able to still take a moment and make sure his mother was going to be looked after, be able to tell the two thieves he was hanging between that they would join him in heaven and pray to the Father to forgive the people who were doing this to him because they " Know not what they do" Every part of the saviors life had to do with others! His entire purpose was to change others for the better.
Take a minute and pray. ask for a chance this week, this month, to Help share the gospel with someone who needs to hear it.
I promise a chance will arise and present itself. you just have to have open eyes and take advantage of every chance you see and go for it. Share His love with others.
Pray always. Find the truth. Find Jesus.
